The RC Light Systems USB Dongle provides a simple way to update your RCLightSystems products.
This dongle is a standard half duplex serial USB converter.
Note that it is possible to use other dongles to do this (we have tested the JETI USBa - that works fine), or you can built one yourself (put a 10K resister between the RX and 5v pins, and a 1N914 diode from RX to TX on an ebay CP210x based USB serial dongle and run a male servo cable to 5v, Gnd and RX connections).
Quick Guide
Download the Bootloader software.
Unpack the zip file to a folder.
You will need .NET 4.7.2 to run this (all Windows 10 machines will have this installed). You will also need the correct driver for the serial dongle. For this dongle the drivers are here.
Start the RCLSBootloader program, and pick your serial port dongle from the list in the Com Port box.
Click Open.
Now quickly attach your device to the dongle. You should see a green light on the device and the bootloader screen update to provide details. If you see a red light, unplug and try again.
Now you can select the firmware version from the 'Firmware' drop down and click write, or use the 'Manage' button to configure the device.
